Spread the plaster onto a clean wall with a trowel, then use a handheld float to smooth it from corner to corner.
Can I Paint Freshly Plastered Walls. I have some paint i like (an off white colour), i have a small tin sample from a very expensive paint company called farrow & ball (won't be buying from there, prices are ridiculous). If you're not afraid of dripping paint, try priming (sealing) the surface with a diluted first coat of paint.

I have painted my walls with cheap emulsion for the first coat, and this seems to have worked, and not peeled etc. Yeah, the plastered walls looked ok before mist coat and even in the evening where light is dim, but when mist coat was put on the first wall next morning when sun came in through the window i don't believe the plasterer was a professional, as i could do better with my eyes closed, but that's by the by. However now a lot of my walls have tiny hairline cracks in them.
You should also paint a newly plastered and dry wall with an acrylic sealer before painting to avoid cracking probs too i think.
Freshly plastered walls can take up to six months to dry out properly. Remove the tape once you've painted the wall, angling away from the freshly painted area as you pull (image 3 and 4). Drywall is a faster process and much cheaper, but a plastered wall will be more durable and easier on the eye. As with all paint projects, prep work is key.
