I am remodeling a house with 2x4 stud walls now that i opened them up i need to upgrade the insulation to 2009 building code standards r19.
Can R19 Insulation Be Used In 2X4 Walls. My question is whether using r19 in a 2 x 4 wall will provide additional noise reduction over r13. Some will go to a r 4.5 and better.

I was going to use 1 foam board r6 + r13= r19 but the building dept wont allow it even with 1/2.
