Can fatheads stick on rough wall? Inspect it for dirt and grime and remove any stains with warm, sudsy water and a sponge as long as place the wall cling on some paper towels, face down. Keep the wall or other surface you stick them to clean as i believe they depend on static cling and dirt will interfere. As you said it is difficult to get anything to stick to a textured wall.
